Crosses 02:52
The train rattles slowly Carrying away my mind filled with thoughts Of decisions that led me here And the actions I missed to take All those years In a fugue state just somewhere Between being awake and most lucid dreams I imagine the smell of dried tangerines Putting me back to a place Someone always cared With a gold and red shimmer A slight idea of the sun appears in the clouds I have never felt any more safe and sound Along this way that I’ve chosen myself A flock of birds descends From a shallow pond that we leave behind quickly So full of haste and I wonder how they know Who to follow or where to go How do they know who to follow or where to go I’ve seen houses burn I’ve seen crosses burn I’ve seen all that it does to a man Voices echo on the intercom While we enter a city we’re passing through Welcomed by small group of tents, just four or five At least it’s not raining I don’t feel fine anymore I’ve seen houses burn I’ve seen crosses burn I’ve seen all that it does to a man How do they know who to follow or where to go

Witness 04:04
Now the cold morning air smells like rain and it bears Witness to our beginning as on day to our end Empty aisles you will walk at the end of a life From eves of tender caresses, one glimpse we wither away You washed my sins away from me Between the headlights and the river Our privilege, we break our bread Hear me confess, the times I do are way too few I feel remorse, don't fold my hands There’s no salvation, not for me in saying prayers Not everything you want But everything we need When I’m with you in this place Now the cold morning air smells like rain and it bears Witness to our beginning as on day to our end Empty aisles you will walk at the end of a life From eves of tender caresses, one glimpse we wither away Eye for an eye, but not for us Sheep in a herd are safe in numbers It’s not your fault, how you were born We’re ought to use our wealth and freedom though Please stay with me, you helped me see That we can walk this way together and enhance more than our lives Not everything you want But everything we need When I’m with you in this place Not everything you want But everything we need In this place, in this place We have it in our hands Pass on what we receive We need no love from above

Furnace 02:02
They were never supposed to see My trembling hands that will give me away My shaky breath that turns the cold air into white vapor I wanted nothing but to embrace the heat Was it enough? At least that’s what I thought it was And this is not about recognition or any kind of enthusiasm But there should have been more to it Some will ignite Before they fade I don’t get recognized when I show my face Where have you been to? Uncertain whether there‘s a spark that ignites Can‘t hear the echo Is this betrayal or an already laid out path? Quit hesitating It feels like choosing between wind and the ocean Will you just trust me? I won’t abandon you Days will leave A stale taste of iron in your mouth You said that time is very much of the essence And once you notice, you will have to ask yourself Has this been worth Walking right through some kind of furnace? Some will ignite Before they fade I don’t get recognized when I show my face Where have you been to? Uncertain whether there’s a spark that ignites Can‘t hear the echo Is this betrayal or an already laid out path? Quit hesitating Will you just trust me? I won’t abandon you

Silence 03:10
Among the smokers outside Silence is fatal tonight There have been rumors About a storm that’s coming through For we are many more than them No common grounds we’ll let them win There have been rumors About a storm that’s coming through Pretending history never happened We must never dare forget There have been rumors About a storm that’s coming through As long as we’re still more than them No common grounds we’ll let them win There have been rumors About a storm that’s coming through And when you hear What people say A whisper in the street As sharp as knives to me When there’s no god There still are people And they are just the ones Believing we’re not equal With eyes wide open, no tongues tied Let’s be the storm They had it coming all this time Among the smokers outside Silence is fatal tonight There have been rumors About a storm that’s coming through For we are many more than them No common grounds we’ll let them win There have been rumors About a storm that’s coming through Pretending history never happened We must never dare forget There have been rumors About a storm that’s coming through As long as we’re still more than them No common grounds we’ll let them win The rumor’s proven true About a storm that’s coming through

Departures 04:04
And then this cold blue shade of the night ascending into something new Tired eyes and leather seats, we feel comfort, you let me take the hand of yours So we sit in this cab headed to the highway east right on the edge of town Just to put our ghosts and this place behind, at least for a while Are we fully aware what we're about to do? In retrospective I can't say that I am But we believe we earned this so why should we care to bat an eye, we are on our way As we pull up the driveway Right in front of the gate Can't wait for our departure We say goodbye and pay While we feel love and we feel joy and we feel freedom a different kind of an arrival takes place There is at least some warmth carried by rays of light, falling through the dusty windows of an old van Silence building up until it's more than unbearable, layer by layer as it consumes time and space It was still early morning as they knocked at the door while the kids they had breakfast, getting ready for a school trip Made them pack up fast, nothing big, just necessities, no more than just one suitcase for each person They knew the destination though they'd never even been there before, and they don't know the language Well at least not the kids, but that don't matter, cause according to the law it is fair and right As they pull up the driveway Right in front of the gate Struck by fear of departure Seconds from going astray In the departure lounge Is where it all will end From there to different beginnings No way to make amends Who dares to tell you What place you're calling home? Then on the runway While boarding proceeds Where our glances intersect Seems like we do the same Those stories unfold Intentions differ No way of taking it back For leaving our homes No bounds by nationalities No boarders that dictate your home The end of deportations Safe spaces instead of new walls Who dares to tell you What place you're calling home? Those stories unfold We need to be aware They're not about what's different But only similarities

Abyss 04:44
It‘s close to morning Been a peculiar night Sun’s almost coming up This isn‘t part of the routine With weary eyes we still feel sharp Although the edge is gone Because of what you‘ve been saying And it is not that it‘s wrong And it is not that it‘s shameful Nothing like this, but it is certain That the pain you shared, that you let go Or at least tried to It has revealed in painful ways How unbelievably blind we’ve been before What selfish ways in our behavior? But in this moment right on this illuminating morning We finally understand that sometimes something‘s dearly needed Is to take a step back and to let others share their pain And even if you’ve been through worse, looked into the abyss before In this particular moment you embrace, and you don’t push and don’t compare In this particular moment I just Stand there in dim morning light with people that I love I take a drag, all has been said and we enjoy the silence Gaze wanders up into the sky See pitch black clouds are passing by so fast Reveal this gloomy scenery Why can’t you tell what’s going on? We‘ve known each other for years This night‘s supposed to be about us all Why can‘t you tell what‘s going on? We‘ve all been at this point Stop burning bridges all the time Far from the eye Close by heart How can you put into words What lasts a lifetime or more? Far from the eye Close by heart When raging waters calm Just seconds after the tremor Far from the eye Close by heart It’s been some time since we parted Our paths continue to cross Far from the eye Close by heart We stood together on the edge And looked right into the abyss Closer to dawn than dusk Full ashtrays, scattered wine corks Approaching words, one simply cannot take back Why can‘t you tell what‘s going on? We keep on pushing the boundaries Till we‘ve pushed you too far You burst in unspeakable words It wasn‘t right to put this pressure Please forgive we’ve let you down Far from the eye Close by heart How can you put into words What lasts a lifetime or more? Far from the eye Close by heart When raging waters calm Just seconds after the tremor Far from the eye Close by heart It’s been some time since we parted Our paths continue to cross Far from the eye Close by heart We stood together on the edge And looked right into the abyss
